Community Buddies Champion

Bradford 21 hours

Age UK Bradford District’s mission is to enable, empower and support people to live well as active, engaged and influential members of their communities. We will work to ensure that everyone’s contribution is valued and that individuals and their communities provide mutual support which promotes independence, inclusion, choice and control.

We will listen to, engage and work with older people and their friends and families. The focus is on enabling, empowering and supporting them to remain independent, active and engaged members of their communities, both receiving and providing the support and activities they identify that they need and which are their chosen priorities.

We are looking for someone to join our team in this exciting new role and would love to hear from people who are passionate about developing opportunities for older people to live their best possible life.

The key focus of the role is to pair older people with a volunteer buddy, who share the same interests and hobbies or who love the same kind of activities, so that they can do these together. The Community Buddies Champion will also enable people to develop their own friendship and activity groups, through co-production and based around shared interests, skills and hobbies

An important part of the work will be around promoting the scheme and recruiting and developing volunteers.

The post holder will require a person-centred focus and an understanding of the needs of older people, ideally with experience of volunteer management. There is an element of administration and the postholder would need to have good PC skills.

The post will require travelling within the area, covering Keighley, Ilkley, Shipley, and Bingley. A full driving license, appropriate insurance cover and car use is preferred. Please note that this role is also subject to a DBS check, which will be arranged and paid for through Age UK Bradford District.

Salary £21,500 per annum pro rata – actual salary £12,202.

21 hours per week

5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays pro rata
