An Eggstraordinary Easter Bank Holiday

April 2020's Easter bank holiday was for many of us like no other we have had before. We stayed at home. Some of us were self-isolating or shielding. We observed social distancing rules when we went out exercising or shopping for essentials. For some of our clients it was a Coronavirus Pandemic bank holiday Monday experience they hadn't expected.
They had an Easter Monday surprise when an Easter egg delivered by MP for Hemel Hempstead Sir Mike Penning (working with his wife Angie in observance of social distancing rules) arrived at their door.
Sir Mike Penning was helping us deliver Easter eggs kindly donated by Aldi and the Dacorum Food Bank (via TK Maxx and Debenhems) to our clients. Many of our clients hadn't seen anyone for days so the Easter Egg delivery was particularly welcomed.
Over the week messages of thanks flowed in including one on our answering machine by M Hartley, "Thank you for the lovely Easter egg."
"I am delighted with my egg, I am over the moon to receive one!" said B Kocher, who attends our Active Living Club.
D Reynolds relayed her message through her telephone chat with us, "Please pass my big thanks to Melanie and Mike for the easter egg they left me at the weekend. It was a wonderful and very nice surprise!"
P Baker wrote, "Thank you so much for whoever organised to give me an Easter Egg. It was so delicious. I couldn't stop eating it! It really put a smile on my face, thank you so much it meant a lot to me."
Ron, a regular Active Living Club member was very grateful for his egg and was full of praise for his club leader Christine. He said, "Going to the clubs have kept me going. I love to have a good chat!"
M Howells sent us his wishes, "This comes to thank you for the Easter Egg, it was a lovely surprise and I appreciate your kind thought in sending it to me as an Easter Gift from AgeUK. I opened it on Sunday morning and had some with my morning coffee. Hope you and your team have all had a Happy Easter."
A big thank you to Sir Mike Penning, Angie and our volunteers for helping us deliver the Easter eggs and a grateful thanks to Aldi and the Dacorum Food Bank (TK Maxx and Debenhems) for their kind donation of Easter eggs.
