The sun shone and there was only a slight breeze on Monday 8th September as 15 older people and four members of staff boarded a boat at Northampton Lock in Becket’s Park in Northampton. Day Centre Co-ordinator Aimie Boyd had arranged for clients from the charity’s day centre at Leeson Court in Towcester to enjoy the day cruising gently along the River Nene with Crusader Community Boating.
“We had a delicious picnic lunch on the boat and everyone joined in the riverside-themed activities I had put together for the occasion. Later in the afternoon we had tea and cake whilst listening to a river-themed playlist,” said Aimie.
David [pictured with Maggie] said “It was a lovely boat and we had a very nice lunch.”
Our Towcester day centre celebrated its first anniversary in September and it is thanks to Towcester Waitrose that clients and several residents at Leeson Court were able to enjoy the memorable and relaxing boat trip. “We went to the garden centre the following week and we hope to have many more trips together in the future,” adds Aimie.
There are a few places available at the Towcester day centre so do get in touch on 01604 611200 for more details if you're interested in joining us. Several of our clients live in Brackley and we do our best to arrange transport where needed.
