COVID-19 update

This is a very challenging time for all of us. Age UK Northamptonshire is determined to support you and others who need us, as best we can.

Please be assured that:

  • We are following government guidance and ‘social distancing’ to help keep you safe
  • Staff are wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) where the role calls for it
  • We are using the telephone more and keeping face to face meetings to a minimum whilst using strict hygiene procedures
  • We are in regular contact with our clients to offer support and check on their welfare

We have adapted our services to suit the current circumstances and wherever possible will continue to provide essential, regular support.  We are continuing to provide:

  • emergency food and meals
  • food shopping and medication support
  • telephone befriending
  • information and advice

Since the lockdown began in March we have provided 3,929 meals, shopping and medication deliveries, made  5,852 welfare and befriending calls, helping a total of 9,787 older people in Northamptonshire. This represents a 75% increase in demand for our services compared with the previous month.
