We can help with
We can usually help directly but if not, we can signpost you to someone who can. Our information and advice can support you to make the best decision - about the little things that can make a big difference, as well as major life changes such as:
• If you have significant long-term health conditions and disabilities, you can claim Attendance Allowance. Please get in touch as we can help you fill in the form.
• Help with means tested benefit claim submissions to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
• Checking your means tested benefit entitlement.
• Challenging adverse benefit decisions, if we have completed the original claim.
• Accessing services from Adult Social Care.
• Identifying your housing options.
• Guidance when looking for a Care Home. We provide copies of the Northamptonshire Care Services Directory which can also be viewed online
• Information on local, community and national services for older people and their carers.
• Information on social and emotional issues, legal matters (Wills etc).
• Free access to over 80 Guidance Notes and Fact Sheets.

Our impact in 2025/26
During the 2025/26 financial year, our team of eight part time advisers supported older people and their families across Northamptonshire during what was a particularly challenging time.
• We received 9,314 enquiries from individuals and health professionals seeking support with welfare benefits, moving a loved one into residential care, tackling social isolation, managing heating costs, and coping with the rising cost of living.
• This represents an increase on the previous year, with a notable rise in enquiries received through digital channels.
• We provided in depth benefits advice to 1,409 clients, supporting applications for Attendance Allowance, Pension Credit, Carer’s Allowance, Severe Mental Impairment discounts, Council Tax Support, and Housing Benefit. As a result, we helped secure over £3.9 million in welfare benefits for the people of Northamptonshire.
We are proud to announce that we have successfully renewed our Quality Advice Certification for another three years, receiving an exemplary rating in recognition of the high standard of advice we provide.
