The sAge Bereavement Service provides confidential advice, information and support to adults living in Northamptonshire affected by grief.

What does the service offer?

We offer one to one bereavement support to individuals as they begin to adjust to life following the loss of someone important to them.

We also provide a counselling service to patients with an End of Life or Palliative Diagnosis. This service also extends to patients' family members and close friends, providing counselling both before and after the bereavement.

The sAge Bereavement Service aims to provide confidential specialist bereavement support in a safe, non-judgemental space where individuals can express their emotions, begin to make sense of their grief and explore healthy ways to cope with the many mixed feelings and emotions they may be experiencing.

Bereavement support

We offer bereavement support to individuals over the age of 18 living in Northamptonshire as they begin to adjust to life following a bereavement.

• The support is provided by specialist trained bereavement supporters.
• It is time limited and provided one to one, either by telephone or online, in weekly or fortnightly sessions lasting between 50 and 60 minutes.

Pre-bereavement support or anticipatory grief

The service also provides specialist one to one confidential counselling to adults with an End of Life or Palliative Care diagnosis. The anticipatory grief service aims to support anyone affected by the physical, emotional, practical and relational changes and challenges that an End of Life or Palliative Care diagnosis may bring and extends to patients’ families and close friends.

When appropriate we can also offer bereavement support to patients’ families and close friends following the loss.

• Our anticipatory grief counselling is provided by specialist trained counsellors who are members of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapist (BACP).
• The sessions are provided one to one, either by telephone or online and each session lasts between 50 and 60 minutes.

All the sAge Bereavement Service Team have an Enhanced DBS check and adhere to the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) Ethical Framework, a copy of which can be provided upon request.
