Older People of Norwich make their voices heard

Over the past few weeks we have arranged a couple of opportunities for older people living in Norwich to meet with Chloe Smith and Clive Lewis, MP’s for Norwich North and South respectively. Whilst it hasn’t been possible to meet in person during the Covid-19 social distancing measures, we have been able to set up virtual meetings instead.
The meetings were a great chance to air concerns and issues that older people have been facing during the Covid-19 lockdown. The topics discussed ranged from training needs for carers in the community, what older people will need as the lockdown gradually releases, a reminder to be careful not to treat all older people the same, sharing a feeling of being isolated and unheard and also a fear that face-to-face services might disappear by stealth in favour of digital access routes. We also identified several areas where we might be able to work together.
We hope to run similar sessions in the future to build on this success
