Act Now, Age Better
Getting older is a privilege, but one that can have many challenges. While we can’t prevent ageing, we can all take action to help us age in the best way possible.
That’s why Age UK launched Act Now, Age Better. We want to get people thinking, talking and taking actions that are going to help them in the years to come. But we also know that ageing well is a team sport. So, for our 2026 campaign, we’ve brought the world of sport, physical activity and movement together to help you make your next move towards a stronger and healthier later life.

💬 What is Act Now, Age Better?
Ageing is a privilege – but it can come with physical, mental and emotional challenges. Age UK Norwich is launching a new campaign to help people in mid-life take small steps now that will make a big difference later.
Our mission: To inspire a shift in attitudes around ageing, encourage open conversations, and empower people to move more in their daily lives – starting in their 50s and 60s.

🚶♀️ Why Physical Activity?
We all know staying active is good for us – but life gets busy, and it’s easy to put ourselves last. That’s why Act Now, Age Better is starting with one simple focus: move more.
It doesn’t have to mean gyms or marathons – every bit of movement counts. Walking, dancing, cleaning, gardening – it all adds up. Think of it as paying into a physical pension plan for your future health and independence.
🤝 Expert Support & Community Action
We’ve teamed up with Dr Hussain Al-Zubaidi – lifestyle medicine doctor, personal trainer, and health coach – to offer practical tips and guidance.
Speaking about his motivation to support the campaign, Dr Hussain said: “10 years ago, I was 26kg heavier, sedentary, highly stressed, and diagnosed with fatty liver disease and high blood pressure. The turning point came when I realised how much my lifestyle was shaping my future – what kind of life would I have at 70 if I continued on that path?”
Having formed habits that have helped him prioritise physical activity in his own life, Dr Hussain has worked with Age UK to create a free, downloadable leaflet. “I’ve summarised the evidence behind longevity and shared practical strategies to help you train for your 70-year-old self,” he says.
Our friends at Dunelm are also helping us start the conversation about healthy ageing in-store and online – proving that home is the perfect place to get moving.
