Free mealsDuring the recent bout of severe cold weather Age UK Portsmouth has been providing free hot meals for older people in Portsmouth.

Using funds from a special Age UK Severe Weather Emergency Grant, Age UK Portsmouth has been able to supply over 100 nutritious two-course meals to local older people.

The Emergency Grant is offered by Age UK to local Age UK organisations for specific initiatives that will benefit older people affected by severe weather conditions and emergencies such as snow and ice, floods, storms and fires.

The grant is typically used to pay for items such as food, clothing, blankets and heaters, extra visits to older people and shopping services.
