Shrewsbury Golf Club raised £4000 in 2018 to help Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin provide vital services for vulnerable older people in Shropshire.

Early this year Captain Les Lewis and his golf club members chose to support Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin and Severn Hospice as their chosen charities of 2018. After twelve months of fundraising activities the club has raised over £8000, supporting both charities with donations of £4000. Les presented the cheque to Heather Osborne, Chief Executive of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin at the club’s Christmas carol concert earlier in December.

Heather said: ‘We want to say a big thank you to Captain Les Lewis and all the golf club members for taking time to organise all these fantastic fundraising activities. Their efforts make a real difference to the lives of older people in Shropshire.’

The club held many events including a charity golf day, raffles and cake sales to raise the funds, which will go towards supporting older people in Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire, and improving their quality of life.
