Shrewsbury School Tea Party success

Shrewsbury School sixth form students treated local older people to afternoon tea as part of a collaboration with Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin.
The students treated 20 members of our Shrewsbury day centres to a lovely afternoon out; providing afternoon tea alongside a variety of entertainment. The older members had a lovely time, particularly enjoying talking to the students who took very good care of them. Entertainment included a talk from Guide Dogs, a game of bingo and wonderful musical performances from the students.
Claire Fishlock, Service Development Officer for Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, said: ‘It was lovely to see all the students mingling with all who attended which brought added joy to our day centre members. Simply being together out and about in a social event brought such joy to so many after last year’s isolation. The students put a lot of thought and effort into making the afternoon and we thank them for such an enjoyable and sociable experience.’
Both Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin and Shrewsbury School thank Age Concern Shrewsbury for assisting with the transport for the event.
