On Saturday 10 October, a fantastic community fundraising event at Starbucks Sainsbury’s, Forge Retail Park, Telford, raised more than £500 for Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin.

The Brew & Browse Craft Fayre brought together local crafters, makers, independent businesses and the local community for an enjoyable day of shopping, socialising and supporting older people across Shropshire.

The event was organised by Jade Morby and Lucie Copner at Starbucks Sainsbury’s, who worked hard to bring the fayre together and create a welcoming event for everyone who attended.

Visitors were able to browse a fantastic variety of stalls, with stallholders showcasing handmade fabric items, cakes and sweet treats, cards, diamond art, lasered gifts, toys, resin decorations, 3D-printed creations and much more. The wide range of products provided plenty of opportunities for visitors to find something unique while supporting local small businesses and makers.

A tombola run by the Starbucks Sainsbury’s team also helped boost the fundraising total.

The event was further supported by Telford Rotary Group, who held collections across the Forge Retail Park, helping to raise even more vital funds for Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin.

Claire Fishlock, Senior Service Development Officer at Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, said: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make Brew & Browse such a success. A huge thank you to Jade and Lucie at Starbucks Sainsbury’s for organising this wonderful event, to all the stallholders who brought such a fantastic variety of products, and to everyone who came along, took part and donated. We would also like to give a special thank you to the Telford Rotary Group for their support. The generosity and community spirit shown throughout the day was fantastic.”

“Raising more than £500 is a brilliant achievement, and every penny will help us continue our work supporting older people across the county. The money will contribute towards our services that help older people remain independent, socially connected, supported and informed, making a real difference to people in our local communities.”

The success of Brew & Browse highlights the difference that local community fundraising can make. Donations help Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin to continue providing vital services for older people, including information and advice, advocacy, befriending, day centres, dementia services, wills and estate planning, and a range of wellbeing activities.

Together, the local community has helped raise a fantastic amount that will go towards supporting older people across the area.
