Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin would like to remind clients, families, referrers and partners that our Help at Home service will close on Monday 31 August. Following this date, clients will no longer receive the Help at Home support from the charity.

This has been a difficult decision, and we understand that this news may be concerning for those who currently use the service. We have been supporting clients through this transition and ensuring they have the information they need to arrange future support.

Continued support from your current Home Support Worker

We know that many of our clients have built strong, trusted relationships with their Home Support Workers over the years, and we appreciate how important those relationships can be.
Some Home Support Workers have chosen to continue offering support independently as self-employed individuals after the charity's Help at Home service closes.

If you have chosen to do this, it is important to understand that this will be a private agreement between you and your Home Support Worker, rather than a service provided by Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin. This means that any arrangements relating to the support you receive, including the services provided, fees, payment arrangements and scheduling, will be agreed directly between you.

Final payments

If you currently pay for the Help at Home service by Direct Debit, please do not cancel your Direct Debit until all outstanding payments have been collected. Your final payment date will be 1 October 2026.

We're still here to support you

Although our Help at Home service is coming to an end, Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin remains committed to helping older people across the county live well, stay informed and remain connected to their communities.
We will continue to provide a wide range of services, including:

If you would like to find out more about any of these services, please get in touch. We are committed to helping older people across the county to be independent, socially connected, supported and informed.

We would like to thank everyone who has used and supported our Help at Home service over the years. It has been a privilege to assist so many older people in maintaining their independence at home, and we are grateful for the trust that clients and their families have placed in us.
