A long-serving employee at local independent charity Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin has been recognised for two decades of outstanding service to the community.
Pauline Guy, a Help at Home support worker based in Shrewsbury, is celebrating 20 years of continuous service enabling older people to live independently in their own homes.
Through her role, Pauline helps clients with everyday tasks that may have become difficult, including housework, laundry, shopping and collecting prescriptions. Her work plays a vital role in helping older residents maintain both their independence and dignity.
But for many of the people she supports, Pauline offers far more than practical help. As a regular visitor, she is also a friendly and familiar face, providing companionship to those who may otherwise feel socially isolated or lonely.
Reflecting on her milestone, Pauline said: “Over the last 20 years, I’ve been very proud to be part of the charity’s Help at Home service. I help people with whatever they need, whether that’s cleaning, changing bedding or doing the ironing, anything that makes their week a little bit easier. And once the jobs are done, I always make sure there’s time for a nice chat over a cuppa.”
To mark her achievement, Pauline was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a card by Tracy Reynolds, Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin’s Head of Help at Home.
Tracy, who recently stepped into the senior role after eight years with the charity in various finance roles, praised Pauline’s contribution: “We simply couldn’t provide this much-needed service without people like Pauline. She is truly dedicated to improving the lives of older people, and the feedback we receive from her clients and their families shows just how much she is valued.”
