As we get older, staying socially connected and involved in our local community can play an important role in maintaining our wellbeing, confidence and independence.
Age UK Solihull's Community Connections service supports older people across Solihull to build friendships, stay connected and reduce loneliness and isolation.
We offer a range of services and activities designed to help older people enjoy meaningful social contact, increase their confidence and become more involved in their local community. Whether you're looking to meet new people, take part in regular activities, receive one-to-one support, or simply enjoy a friendly conversation, Community Connections has something for everyone.
We aim to help older people feel connected, valued and supported, improving wellbeing and reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation.
What does Community Connections offer?
We provide a range of friendly services and activities, with something to suit different interests, needs and levels of confidence. Click on the links below to find out more about each project or activity and how to get involved.
Linking People Together
A short-term, one-to-one support service for people aged 65+ who may be feeling isolated, have lost confidence, or would like help getting involved in their community.
Enabling Connections
Supporting people aged 50+ for up to 6 months to access local services, activities and opportunities that help them stay connected, engaged and independent.
Befriending
An ongoing, face-to-face and telephone befriending service providing regular, friendly contact from a volunteer befriender, offering weekly companionship and conversation.
Lunch clubs, coffee afternoons and activity groups
Regular groups and activities across the Solihull borough, providing opportunities to get out into the community, make new friends, learn new skills and stay active.
Some activities may have a small charge.
