Making a will
Making a will is the best way to ensure your money, property and possessions go to the people and causes you care about.
It can be a difficult thing to think about, but a will lets you decide exactly how your estate should be divided, who should carry out your wishes, and who should look after any dependants.
If you die without a will, the law decides who inherits, which may not reflect your personal relationships or intentions, particularly if you have an unmarried partner, step‑family or specific charities you want to support.
Planning ahead is important to give you and your loved ones clarity, security and peace of mind.
If you require legal or financial planning advice please contact our Community Advice Hubs. We can discuss your needs and if required, refer you to a local firm of solicitors who will be able to offer you a free half hour consultation, either on the telephone or face-to-face.

Remembering a charity
Some people choose to leave a gift to charity in their will. Even a small percentage of your estate makes a big difference.
A gift to us at Age UK Solihull helps us to be here for older people here in Solihull for years to come. We are an independent charity that provides advice, companionship and practical support to older residents of the borough.
We are the local Age UK in Solihull. We're a brand partner to the national Age UK, but we operate as an independent charity.
We're so grateful to anyone who thinks of remembering us in their will, helping us to provide advice, companionship and practical support to older Solihull residents for years to come.
If you are thinking of leaving a gift in your will to your local Age UK, please don't forget the "Solihull" part of our name. Any gift simply left to "Age UK" won't reach us and will go to the national charity.
