Men in Sheds support Lakeside Autumn Fun Day

Age UK Surrey’s Men in Sheds recently showed their support for the local community at the Lakeside Autumn Fun Day.

On 25th October children attending the Fun Day were invited to paint their own wooden animals, toadstools and butterflies to keep and take home. Participants of Men in Sheds designed and prepared the cut-out wooden shapes for the Fun Day organised by the Ash, Ash Vale and Tongham Community Wardens.

Men in Sheds is a service located in Ash and funded by Age UK Surrey that allows men to socialise, make new friends and learn new skills. The main Shed activity is woodworking, which is carried out in a well-equipped workshop that includes handtools, portable power tools and small machines.

John Fairs, Men in Sheds Co-ordinator said: “We were delighted to be able to support the Fun Day, and we have really enjoyed producing these shapes during our sessions at The Shed. We are happy to consider requests and commissions for projects.”

“We have used our carpentry skills to make a selection of handmade items including fairy doors, clocks and planters. These can be purchased for a suggested donation from the Items crafted by Men in Sheds page of the Age UK Surrey website, and could make the ideal Christmas present for someone.”
