Befrienders urgently needed in Runnymede & Spelthorne

Could you befriend a lonely older person in your neighbourhood?

If you could spare up to 2 hours a week to visit an older person, we would love to meet you at Notcutts Garden Centre, Staines on Tuesday 2nd July anytime between 9.30am-11am. We can tell you all about being a volunteer befriender and how much of a difference you will be making to an older person's life.

Research shows that a staggering 1.2 million older people in England are chronically lonely and 200,000 older people have not had a conversation with friends or family for an entire month. We know of older people waiting for a befriender, but we cannot meet the demand without new volunteers.

Age UK Surrey relies on the generosity and goodwill of volunteers to help deliver this much needed service.

If you cannot attend the event but would like to know more about becoming a volunteer befriender, Age UK Surrey would be delighted to hear from you. Select this link https://www.ageuk.org.uk/surrey/get-involved/volunteer/ to find out more or volunteer@ageuksurrey.org.uk or 01483 503414.
