Our new Trustee Joy Allen

Published on 08 December 2020 01:54 PM

We are so pleased that Joy Allen has joined Age UK Surrey as our new Trustee. This is what Joy has to say:

"Before retiring I worked as a family lawyer with a particular interest in safeguarding for a number of local authorities. I was also a governor for a special needs school and a trustee of a sheltered housing charity in Woking.   I am currently Chair of Governors for a Woking primary school and a Trustee of the Friends of Guildford Cathedral Charity and regularly attend the Age UK Christmas Carol Services held there.

I was attracted to Age UK Surrey because it is a local charity serving the needs of older people in West Surrey and I have experience of both charitable organisations and safeguarding (which is becoming an increasingly important issue for older people). There is an increased focus on good governance of charities and I hope I can make a contribution to this."

Are you interested too in helping older people in Surrey? We are looking for committed people with a range of professional and life experience, to join our Board of Trustees.
