Armed Forces Day Veteran Support

What a great day we had in the sunshine in Ponte Park with all the other Veterans charities and organisations, military bands, free fall parachutist and majorette troupes and many more.

We collaborated with the Royal Engineers to support our World War 2 Veteran of 103 to enjoy the day and be the “star” of the show. A lovely bright and witty man who enjoyed a beer with his comrades.

We welcomed our colleagues to the stand with Citizens Advice and Money Smart offering advice and support to attendees alongside our own support services. Great to work together and signpost people to specialist support that we do not offer.

We had a great chat with local MP’s and the Shadow Veterans Minister John Healey, who was interested to learn what we are doing to support the older Veteran community in Wakefield district.

We continue to work with 5 Towns Veterans at Purston Jaglin centre offering support with digital services and referring to our variety of services if required.

Our small group at Moorthorpe is looking for more Veteran attendees to our casual, informal group on the 3^rd Wednesday of each month 10am to 12 noon. Next events are:
