Volunteer role description

As an admin volunteer for Age UK Bolton Enterprises, you will provide comprehensive administrative and operational support for key services including Home Services (Cleaning and Shopping), the Handyperson Service and Help at Home. 

You'll play a key role in coordinating appointments, handling enquiries, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the day-to-day operations and growth of social enterprise activities at Age UK Bolton.

Key responsibilities

The role will involve:

  • Providing day-to-day administrative assistance to the Enterprise's team, including scheduling appointments, preparing service rotas, and managing communications
  • Inputting, updating and maintaining accurate service user records, job logs and invoices using Age UK Bolton’s internal systems
  • Supporting the recruitment, onboarding, and rota coordination of Home Services Assistants, Handypersons, and volunteers
  • Processing referrals, enquiries, and service requests, liaising with clients, family members and staff
  • Signposting clients to additional Age UK Bolton services or external support when needs are identified.
  • Maintaining stock levels and order the necessary equipment and materials to deliver services, including uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Supporting the smooth operation of the Enterprise's office function, including data entry, emails and telephone calls.
  • Following up on outstanding tasks or actions with internal staff and clients
  • Supporting invoicing processes and payment tracking for clients and services, working closely with the Enterprise Team Leader and the finance team
  • Reconciling payments received and flag any discrepancies or queries promptly
  • Working with the wider Age UK Bolton team to share knowledge and enhance service delivery

  • Some experience in an administrative or coordination role
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and data management systems
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A positive, can-do attitude with the ability to multitask and adapt in a busy environment
  • Commitment to Age UK Bolton’s values and to supporting older people to live well and independently

Additional information

Please note that Enhanced DBS clearance will be required for this role.

Full training and induction will be provided.
