On 23rd March 2021 it will be one year since the first official government Lockdown and so much has changed for everyone over these last twelve months.

Local charity Age UK Hertfordshire, like many businesses across the county, have had to reimagine and redesign many of their services to fit with the changing times and to ensure that they are able to continue their vital work.

“So many of our clients are already lonely and isolated so this year has been tough on them,” says Roz Wyllie, Head of Engagement. “Staff and Volunteers have worked so hard to make sure that we can continue our services, and we’re now working in a variety of different ways.  We’ve been incredibly busy with calls to our Information & Advice Team, and our Befriending Service and Active Ageing services have continued over the phone and more recently on Zoom.  We’ve also restarted our popular Help in the Home cleaning service with full PPE and social distancing, as well as continuing to support older people with cognitive impairments through our partnership scheme Hertswise, and supporting thousands of clients through our Hospital & Community Navigation Service partnership.”

We exist to help all older people in Hertfordshire, and specifically to help older people who may be experiencing financial hardship or feeling isolated or lonely.  If you’d like our support, or you know an older person who might benefit from our help then get in touch on 01707 323 272.
