Are you looking for a varied and rewarding role supporting older people, where you can make a real difference in people’s lives every day by helping them stay warm, safe and independent in their homes?

If so, we are looking to recruit an Energy Advisor to join our new countywide Energy Advice Service.

This new service, funded through the Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme, will support vulnerable households across Lancashire by providing energy advice, practical support and energy-saving measures that reduce fuel poverty and improve wellbeing.

As an Energy Advisor you will provide practical, personalised support to older people living with frailty at home, helping them understand their energy use, access available support and make their homes warmer and more energy efficient.

As an Energy Advisor you will:

  • Provide personalised energy advice through home visits and community appointments, including reviewing energy bills and identifying opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Support clients with tariff comparisons and switching suppliers where appropriate.
  • Liaise with energy suppliers and external agencies to help resolve energy-related issues.
  • Help clients manage online energy accounts and build confidence using digital tools and comparison websites.
  • Arrange practical energy-saving improvements through our Handypeople, including small energy efficiency measures.
  • Support individuals to access benefit checks, financial guidance and other support services where needed.
  • Deliver light-touch energy awareness sessions at community events and promote other available support services.
  • Maintain accurate client records using our CRM system while ensuring confidentiality and GDPR compliance.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Be able to demonstrate a person-centred approach when supporting individuals and work sensitively with vulnerable people.
  • Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong attention to detail.
  • Be able to build relationships with service users, colleagues and external partners.
  • Possess strong organisational skills and the ability to manage and prioritise your workload independently.
  • Have an understanding of safeguarding, risk management and safe working practices.
  • Hold a full valid driving licence and access to a car for business purposes.

This role will involve working across Lancashire, including home visits, community locations and time spent working with Age UK Lancashire teams and partners.

Age UK Lancashire delivers services to over 12,000 older people each year, helping them maintain independence and enjoy choice and control over their lives.

This is a hugely rewarding role for the right person. If you are passionate about supporting older people and helping vulnerable households stay warm, safe and independent, we would love to hear from you.

We know you will understand why we want to make sure we recruit the right person with the right key requirements; skills, experience, attributes, and abilities to join our team, so it is important that you tell us about it on your application form.

Benefits include:

  • Full training and comprehensive induction to ensure you have the support you need to succeed and thrive in your new role
  • A friendly and inclusive culture
  • 25 days annual leave increasing to 30 with length of service + bank holidays
  • Workplace pension scheme
  • Access to Employee Assistance Programme
  • Staff discount card for hundreds of High Street shops and online services.
  • Blue Light card eligibility
  • Travel expenses will be paid for all journeys required for work, excluding travel from home to base.
