About the role:
Our Energy Service supports older people in their own homes to reduce energy costs, improve energy efficiency, and use energy confidently. We are looking for a Handyperson to install practical energy-saving measures in the homes of older people living with frailty.
This role offers the opportunity to deliver practical support that has an immediate and lasting impact on people's daily lives. By improving energy efficiency in the home, you will help older people live more comfortably and confidently.
As the Handyperson you will:
- Carry out the installation of simple energy-efficiency measures, ensuring they are safe, accessible, and easy to use. Your work will help clients reduce their energy consumption, lower household costs, and maintain a warm and comfortable home.
- You will be responsible for maintaining your own tools and equipment in good working order and will work closely with our Energy Advisers to coordinate visits and deliver a seamless, high-quality service to clients.
To be successful in this role you will:
Must have
- Practical DIY or maintenance experience with your own tools
- A caring and empathetic attitude with a focus on helping people to maintain independence
- Experience working with vulnerable adults
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to build relationships with individuals using the service, and other health care professionals and colleagues
- Ability to manage workload independently.
- Understanding of safeguarding and risk management
- An ability to provide a person-centered, flexible and responsive service
- Valid driving license and use of a car for business purposes
Great to have
- Experience working in people’s homes
- Awareness of needs of older or frail individuals
- Basic understanding of energy efficiency measures
- Understanding of frailty and issues affecting older people
