Care Support at Home

The service offers people age 55+

• a friendly, caring person who will stay for a chat, providing company and the support that is appropriate for them.
• no personal care is provided but we can prepare a light lunch and sit with clients whilst they eat, as we find that company often makes meals more enjoyable.
• We offer transport to hospital appointments and stay with the client if required.
• We can take clients shopping, or complete the shop alone, and will unpack and put away groceries.

The service offers carers

• a carer to sit with your loved one, enabling you to take a break.
• the chance to talk to someone who understands and who will listen to you, offering support in your caring role.
• information on matters which may concern you as a carer, for example, benefits and allowances, aids and adaptations.  We can provide information and advice on what other services and support you could access locally and nationally, including the chance to benefit from the experiences of others and we can signpost you to carers groups across the county.

Who is it for?

• Older people and their family and carers living in Northamptonshire
• Some of our clients do not feel ready to attend a day centre but would benefit from a bit of company or need support to help them stay safe at home.  A regular visit from our friendly staff can have a hugely positive effect on an older person's wellbeing.  Please call us to discuss what would suit you or your family member.  We are flexible and try to provide the service that fits your needs.

How much does it cost?

• £22.50 per hour
• sign up for a regular visit, weekly or fortnightly, it's up to you
• the service is not limited to one hour
• available Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm, evenings and weekends also available
• night sits to enable a carer to sleep undisturbed or weekend cover for special occasions can be arranged

How do I access the service?

We welcome new clients and are working to provide the service throughout the county.  Please get in touch to find out how we can help.

• All clients will be visited by a member of staff from one of our community based teams to assess their needs and find out what support they would like.
• We will organise payment arrangements with you and set up the visits you require. 
• We can provide a regular service at the same time every week or if you need to go to a special occasion, to a wedding for example, we can look after you or your loved one for a whole day.  
• We encourage our clients to socialise at dementia support groups or Parkinson's groups, for example.  We can be their transport and companion.
• Our staff are experienced in supporting people with the many different types of dementia.  They enjoy making a positive difference and enabling someone to get the most out of our visits.  One of the most valuable things we offer is our time.
