Research findings by the University of East Anglia (UEA) has been presented on the international stage, following a research project on Age UK Norwich's Health Coaching Service.

This week, PhD researcher Jess Marshall [Photo] from the UEA presented findings from her research at the European Health Psychology Society Conference in Cyprus. Working in partnership with Age UK Norwich, Jess has been exploring how our Health Coaches support older people to become and stay physically active, looking beyond the activities themselves to understand the different techniques coaches use to help people make positive and sustainable changes.

The research highlights the important role our Health Coaches play in building confidence, providing encouragement and social support, helping people progress at a pace that works for them, and making physical activity achievable and relevant to everyday life.

This follows a series of collaorations with the UEA on different aspects of our work, from the Economic return on investment of accredited advice, to shaping research on hydration and raising awareness with healthcare professionals and the public.

Fiona Gosden, Interim CEO said "We’re incredibly proud to have supported this research and to see the work of our Health Coaches being shared with a wider international audience. A big thank you to our Health Coaches for generously sharing their time, experiences and expertise, and congratulations to Jess and her supervisory team at UEA on reaching this exciting milestone."
