Whether you're facing difficulties maintaining your current home, or need advice about your future housing options, we're here to connect you with the right support.

The current national housing crisis has left many individuals struggling to find stable, affordable housing, leaving older people particularly vulnerable. In Plymouth alone, the situation is especially serious, as rents continue to rise at an alarming rate, leaving a record number of people in temporary housing. Whether it's also struggling with a limited income, illness or disability, all of these significant challenges have a knock on effect with navigating the growing housing emergency.

Are you concerned about your housing situation? Do you need advice about rent, eviction or repairs? Age UK Plymouth is pleased to offer in person sessions with a Housing Advisor from Plymouth City Council, giving you the opportunity to ask questions, get clear information, and find support tailored to your individual situation.

You can speak with an experienced member of the Plymouth City Council Housing team about a wide range of housing related issues, including:

  • Housing options
  • Eviction notices
  • Rent arrears to unaffordable rent
  • Disrepair and unsafe housing conditions.

Vanessa, Plymouth City Council

"Some of the clients I worked with did not know where to begin. It was so important to let them know that there are different options available. I could see how much weight this took off a few people's shoulders. Our advisors at this Drop In Clinic take the time to understand your personal situation in full and do the best to provide you with all the support you need to take the next steps."

At a time where providing these Housing Advice Drop in Clinics is crucial, offering not only practical advice but also understanding and a sense of reassurance. As these sessions continue, we hope to support more older people in Plymouth, ensuring they have the guidance to secure and maintain safe, suitable and affordable housing.

If you are currently concerned about your housing situation and would like to discuss your options with a Plymouth City Council Housing Officer, please be sure to attend one of our Housing Advice Drop in Clinics so they can help you take the next steps.
