Plymouth, we need your 'woolpower' once again!

Our 2026/27 challenge: 10,000 little hats!

Yes, you read that right... 10,000 hats.

It might sound like a lot, but after seeing what Plymouth achieved last year, we know our city's knitting community has plenty of woolpower.

Every hat counts, whether it's your first or your fiftieth. So, shall we see how far Plymouth can go together?

Last year, Plymouth knitters really went above and beyond. We were given a target of 2,500 hats... and what happened next completely unraveled our expectations (in the best possible way). And the best part? Every hat made such a difference. Thanks to the incredible creativity and generosity of our city, 4,799 little hats were produced, raising £1,439.70 for Age UK Plymouth.

Behind every one of those tiny hats was someone who took the time to pick up their needles and get knitting. Some were lifelong knitters who could cast in their sleep, while others were picking it up for the first time. Community groups, craft clubs, friends, families and individuals all stitched together to create something really special.

And now... we're ready to do it all over again!

How does the innocent Big Knit work?

If you're new to the campaign, don't worry - here's how it works!

The innocent Big Knit is a nationwide partnership between innocent drinks and Age UK. Every year, thousands of tiny woolly hats are knitted and crocheted by people across the UK. The hats are then placed on bottles of innocent smoothies and sold in supermarkets.

For every hatted smoothie sold, innocent donates 30p to Age UK.

But, there's a lovely local twist...

Each Age UK charity has its own hat target, and the more hats we collect, the more funding comes back to support older people in our local communities. So when you knit a little hat for Age UK Plymouth, you're helping bring vital funding back to our city.

Ready to get knitting?

We're hoping this year's campaign will bring even more Plymouth knitters together.

Maybe you've spotted the little hats on smoothie bottles before and wondered who made them. Maybe you've been meaning to take part for years. Or perhaps you're already a Big Knit pro!

However you found us, we'd love you to join in.

Grab your needles, dig out your wool and encourage your friends, family, colleagues or fellow crafters to get involved too. Because the more hats we make, the closer we'll get to our biggest challenge yet.
