Walking Football is open to all over 50s and is a great way to meet new people and keep fit!

Walking Football at Age UK Plymouth

Our walking football sessions are part of Age UK Plymouth's Veterans Project, which we have been proudly delivering in collaboration with the Armed Forces Covenant Fund.

This project supports veterans and their families by offering opportunities to stay active, improve wellbeing and build social connection in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Walking Football provides a great way to bring people together, reduce isolation and support both physical and mental health through teamwork and gentle exercise.

Please note: Walking Football is available to all who are aged 50 and above.

What is Walking Football?

Walking Football takes all the fun from traditional football, but removes the need to run or jog. The rules are adjusted so that:

  • Running is not permitted - players must only walk during play
  • Contact is minimal, making it gentle on joints and easier on the body
  • Matches are played at a relaxed pace that suits all fitness levels
