Age UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove is helping older people focus on fun, friendship and fitness in 2026 - resolutions for a healthy and happy new year. The charity is encouraging people to find out what’s on near them and take on something new this January, whether that’s an exercise class, volunteering or a new social group.

Staying independent, active and connected can make a huge difference to both mental and physical health and even life expectancy. Age UK West Sussex, Brighton and Hove (WSBH) offers help at home, as well as a wide range of activities for over 50s in its centres and out in the community. Classes offer the opportunity to learn new skills, build strength and stamina and forge new friendships through shared interests.

Michelle Peel, Commercial Director at Age UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove said “The new year is always a great time for a fresh start and we’d love people to check out what we’ve got on offer near them. Our gym and fitness classes keep people moving whatever their ability, from marathon training to chair-based exercise. We have had people in their nineties as regular members, so never think you’re too old!

“As well as physical fitness we want to tackle the loneliness which some people feel in later life, particularly if they’ve lost a partner or spouse. We offer home visiting services and our social groups can be transformative, with people who have previously felt quite isolated finding a whole new lease of life. The first step is to log on or give us a call to find out what’s happening near you. We think it could be your best resolution of 2026.”

Age UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove has centres in Bognor Regis, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Horsham and Brighton, while it offers services across the whole West Sussex, Brighton & Hove area. Charity membership would be a fantastic investment or gift in 2026. It costs just £5 a month and allows people access to all Age UK WSBH centres, trips, talks, events and services.
