Our new strategic plan - let's change how we age

Published on 19 May 2025 01:38 PM

I am delighted to launch Age UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove’s strategic plan today, which outlines how we’ll work locally to ‘change how we age’ between now and 2030.

We want to be the ‘go-to’ for expert guidance and support in our area, driving change on the issues that matter to older people. These are issues that shape lives, like poverty, preventable ill health and heartbreaking isolation. We want to ensure that older people always have somewhere to turn.

Over the coming years, we’re clear that our work will focus on four key pillars - helping people to be healthy, independent, informed and connected. Our services will reach people where they are – at home, hospital, in the community, or visiting our centres.

We’ll work to combat ageism, so people are treated with understanding, respect and dignity, irrespective of age. We’ll also address loneliness, offering contact, kindness and hope, especially to those who might find themselves going days, or even weeks, without meaningful conversation.

We have an incredible team of passionate staff and volunteers who are all working to reach more people than ever. You can help too. If you or your workplace can donate time, money, expertise or enthusiasm, we’d love to hear from you. Every fundraiser, campaigner and champion we have helps us change lives.

Thanks so much for your support.
