We want Age UK West Sussex, Brighton and Hove to be an inclusive workplace, where everyone we work with, as a colleague, a supporter, or someone we support, feels that they belong. As an employer, we want to see the diversity of our communities reflected in our workforce.

We believe that employing a rich mix of people from a range of different backgrounds with fresh ideas and different perspectives is key to enabling us to continually improve our services to the diverse communities we serve.

We want to make sure we are representative at all levels of the organisation and all our colleagues and volunteers feel they belong at AUKWSBH. To make sure everyone understands the importance of this, our equity, diversity and inclusion training module is now part of our compulsory training for all staff.

Inclusive recruitment

During the recruitment process we want to make we support you in anyway we can, if there are adjustments needed, or any way that we can support you to be the best you can be, please email the team at recruitment@ageukwestsussex.org.uk with your contact details and we’ll be in touch.

Here are some things we are doing to make sure we have an inclusive process:

  • We are a Living Wage Employer and believe all AUKWSBH employees should be paid fairly for the work they do.

  • We are working towards being a Disability Confident Employer to help remove barriers to employment for disabled applicants.

  • During the application process, we collect diversity data to make sure that our recruitment practices are fair and are not creating unjust barriers. The hiring manager will never be able to access this information. It will only be accessed by HR for reporting purposes (and used with great care to make sure no one is identifiable).

  • Our application process is anonymised, so that everyone has an opportunity to be part of a fair, robust and inclusive process.
