Age UK Isle of Wight are delighted to share the news that 17-year-old Macie Edkins-Wherry, recently presented a generous donation of £280 to their charity. The donation was the result of their annual Halloween raffle, which was held live on Facebook on October 30th at 7pm.

Dana, Macie's mum, and Macie gathered prizes for the raffle, reaching out to local businesses and individuals who kindly donated items. This has become a tradition for Macie, who started organising these fundraising events during the COVID-19 lockdowns. One of her main motivations for supporting this charity is her passion for helping older people. Macie is currently training in the adult social care field and understands the importance of combatting loneliness among older people on the Isle of Wight.

The Halloween raffle is just one of two events that Dana and Macie organise each year, with the other taking place around Easter. These events aim to raise funds for various charities and worthy causes on the Isle of Wight. Age UK Isle of Wight are incredibly grateful that they were chosen as one of the beneficiaries.

In total, Dana and Macie raised an impressive £2,400 through their Halloween fundraising efforts. Age UK Isle of Wight are honoured to have received £280 of this amount, which will go towards supporting their vital services for older people on the Isle of Wight.

Other charities that benefitted from Macie and Dana's fundraising efforts were; Daisy Chains IW Childrens Charity, Wave Project, The Alayna Shae Fund, Newport Carnival, IOW Defibrillators, Aspire and Ability Dogs 4 Young People IOW.

With the addition of this £280 donation, Macie has raised a total of £935.50 for Age UK Isle of Wight since starting her fundraising efforts.

Age UK Isle of Wight would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dana, Macie, and everyone who contributed to the success of the Halloween raffle.
