Newchurch Male Voice Choir Presents £700 Cheque to Age UK Isle of Wight

Age UK Isle of Wight was delighted to welcome members of Newchurch Male Voice Choir to our office recently, as they presented us with a generous cheque for £700.
The donation follows a special charity concert held at St Saviour-on-the-Cliff Church in Shanklin, which brought together the Island’s own Newchurch Male Voice Choir and the visiting Cotswold Male Voice Choir for an evening of music in support of Age UK Isle of Wight.
The concert marked the Cotswold Male Voice Choir’s first visit to the Isle of Wight, hosted by Newchurch Male Voice Choir. The evening featured a wide-ranging programme of songs, including traditional favourites, hymns, and a joint performance of Elvis Presley’s American Trilogy.
The £700 total was raised through a retiring collection at the charity concert, as well as from Newchurch Male Voice Choir’s Christmas concert at Brighstone.
As an independent local charity, support like this makes a real difference to our work with older people, their families and carers across the Island. Donations and community fundraising help us continue providing vital services, information, support and companionship to older Island residents.
Maria Bunce, Chief Officer for Age UK Isle of Wight, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to Newchurch Male Voice Choir and Cotswold Male Voice Choir for choosing to support Age UK Isle of Wight.
“It was a fantastic evening of music and community spirit, and this generous £700 donation will make a real difference to our work supporting older people across the Island.
“As a local independent charity, support like this means so much to us, and we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved, from the choirs and organisers to everyone who attended and donated.”
For Newchurch MVC, Bob Cooper said:
"This money comes from donations given at these concerts and shows the pleasure that singing brings."
"Age UK Isle of wight undertake so many services for the people on the Island and we know it will be used wisely".
We would also like to thank St Saviour-on-the-Cliff Church for hosting the concert, and everyone who helped make the evening such a success.
Thank you once again to Newchurch Male Voice Choir, Cotswold Male Voice Choir, and everyone who supported the fundraising.
