East Wight tennis tournament raises £1,250 for older Islanders

The East Wight Charity Tennis Tournament has raised £1,250 so far to support our work at Age UK Isle of Wight, with 24 players taking to the courts for the occasion.
Held at Ryde Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Sunday 20 September 2026, the tournament saw matches played across six courts. Among those taking part were players in their 70s and 80s, joining fellow tennis enthusiasts to raise funds for older people across the Island.
Hear from Martin and George
Two of those playing were Martin Bostock, our Vice Chair of Trustees, and George Bristow, owner of Seaview Deli. As well as taking part on court, George was one of the event’s sponsors.

George described Age UK Isle of Wight as an “amazing cause”. Martin called the fundraiser “fabulous” and explained why support like this matters:
“We need every penny that we can get to support our older people on the Island.”
Reflecting on the tournament, he added:
“We’ve all had a really good time.”
