About the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Dementia Services Team delivering Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) to people with mild to moderate dementia living in Lancashire.
CST is a 12-week activity program that aims to improve an individual’s cognitive function, i.e. memory and thinking. It is the only non-clinical intervention recommended by the National Institute for Care Excellence (NICE) on the management of dementia irrespective of drug treatments received.
As a Dementia Activity Lead
You will deliver engaging activities and support for people living with dementia and their care partners across Lancashire. This varied and rewarding role includes
- Facilitating Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) programmes,
- Running dementia hubs including community groups,
- Making referrals and providing information and signposting,
- Working with volunteers, and building strong relationships with health, social care, and community partners.
- Attending events/meetings to help raise awareness of the Dementia Service
- Keeping up to date with information about relevant services.
- Completing required administration in relation to your role including updating client records, assessments and evaluations.
- Maintaining records and retrieving information using Age UK Lancashire’s and other service databases as appropriate in line with GDPR principles.
For this role you must have:
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written; ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals on a 121 and group basis.
- Able to work well independently or as part of a team.
- Experience of conducting assessments with clients.
- Confident delivery and presentation skills
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of service users
- Knowledge and confidence with IT systems including word, excel, outlook, power point, Zoom, Teams and other standard operating systems
- Ability to network/liaise with other professional and agencies.
- The ability and willingness to travel extensively across the county is essential.
- As an essential car user post, you must have access to a vehicle with appropriate business insurance

This is a Lancashire wide role where you will make community visits, working is hospitals and client’s homes, attend meetings and spend time at our offices working with Age UK Lancashire colleagues and volunteers.
