80 Stories for 80 Years: We want to hear your story

Published on 27 August 2026 10:47 AM

In 2027, Age UK Norfolk will celebrate 80 years of supporting older people. To mark this special milestone, we want to celebrate the people at the heart of everything we do.

Over eight decades, millions of moments have made up the lives of the people we have supported, worked alongside and shared our communities with. Times have changed, but people’s stories – the experiences, relationships, challenges, achievements and memories that make us who we are – remain at the heart of our work.

So, as part of our 80th anniversary celebrations, we're collecting 80 Stories for 80 Years.

We want to hear about your life and your experiences. Perhaps you have a favourite childhood memory, a story about your first job, meeting someone special, raising a family, moving home, making a lifelong friendship or discovering something new later in life.

Maybe you remember how things used to be, how your community has changed, or how life has changed as you've grown older. Or perhaps there's a particular moment – big or small – that has stayed with you over the years.

Whether you've lived in Norfolk all your life, moved here later, worked here, volunteered here, or simply have a connection to the people and communities we support, we'd love to hear from you.

Your story could be a few sentences or several paragraphs. It could make us laugh, make us think, bring back a memory or give someone a glimpse into a life different from their own.

We'll share some of the stories we receive throughout our 80th anniversary year, celebrating the people and experiences that have helped shape who we are and why we do what we do.
