Two Generations, a specialist organisation that connects people through shared living arrangements, has launched a new Homeshare initiative in Norfolk, working with Age UK Norfolk to help raise awareness of the service across the county.

The new service aims to support older people to remain independent in their own homes for longer, while also tackling loneliness, isolation, and the growing need for affordable accommodation solutions.
Homeshare is a simple but effective idea: it brings together people who have a spare room with carefully matched individuals who are looking for somewhere to live, in return for companionship and agreed support within the home.
This is not a care service, but a practical, community-based arrangement that helps build connection, confidence and peace of mind.
Supporting independence and reducing isolation
With more people living alone in later life, Homeshare offers an innovative way to help older people stay safe, connected and supported at home.
The service is fully managed by Two Generations, who carry out detailed screening and safeguarding checks, including enhanced DBS checks, references, identity verification and suitability assessments. Matches are carefully considered to ensure compatibility, and ongoing support is provided throughout each arrangement.
Ann Donkin, Chief Executive of Age UK Norfolk, said: “We are really pleased to be supporting the launch of Homeshare in Norfolk by Two Generations. Too many older people tell us they are living alone without the day-to-day connection and reassurance that makes such a difference to wellbeing.
“Homeshare offers something simple but powerful – companionship, support, and a greater sense of security at home. It’s about helping people stay independent for longer, while also building meaningful connections between generations here in Norfolk.”
A new approach to shared living
The initiative reflects a growing recognition that innovative housing and support models are needed to meet the challenges of an ageing population.
Homeshare can help:
- Reduce loneliness and social isolation
- Support independent living
- Provide affordable housing options
- Build intergenerational connections
- Offer reassurance and companionship at home
Lisa Goldsobel, Head of Operations at Two Generations, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Age UK Norfolk to bring Homeshare to more people across the county.
For older people and their families, choosing Homeshare is a big decision, so trust is central to everything we do. Every arrangement is carefully managed by Two Generations, from suitability checks through to thoughtful matching, safeguarding and ongoing support. Homeshare can help older people feel less alone and more confident at home, while offering Homesharers affordable accommodation and the chance to make a meaningful difference.
We hope this will help more people across Norfolk feel connected, supported and able to live well at home.”
