Campaigning to improve dementia diagnosis rates
We always like to get involved in Alzheimer's Society annual campaign and in 2024 Dementia Action Week runs 13th - 19th May. National and local charities, local authorities and the NHS are hoping to bring the UK together to take action on improving dementia diagnosis rates. Age UK Northamptonshire is supporting many events around the county, helping to raise awareness of the disease and to spread the word about the help that is available in Northamptonshire.
One of the many events we are attending was held at Kettering General Hospital on Monday 13th May. The Dementia Roadshow was organised by Senior Dementia Nurse Nadia Tobierre [pictured] and brought together 19 charities and other local organisations to provide information for people with a diagnosis of dementia, as well as help for their families and carers. The event was also attended by medical staff at the hospital who wished to learn more about the support that is available locally for their patients.
Throughout the year, Age UK Northamptonshire, Dementia UK, Northamptonshire Carers and Alzheimer's Society are proud to work alongside the Memory Assessment Service in Northamptonshire to provide information and support that is invaluable in maintaining the health and wellbeing of older adults experiencing dementia, or mental health problems, and also that of their care partners.
