Older People's Week

Our Activity Centre in Wanstead, the Allan Burgess Centre, hosted a number of events for Older People's week. They included a comedy show, a poetry workshop with the Redbridge Rhymesters which was featured in the Ilford Recorder on Friday 5th October. The session was run by local poet Alex Wilde and she was joined by pupils from Snaresbrook primary school as well as a number of older people. The centre also hosted a general knowledge quiz and a special lunch with the Mayor and finished the week with a sing a long session with the Redbridge Music Lounge.

Elsewhere, we had an information stall at Wanstead Library for Silver Tuesday, where older people could enjoy a number of activities, including a chair based exercise session run by our own instructor, Rama. Age UK also provided refreshments for people throughout the day and were helped with a contribution from Redbridge Pensioners Forum.
