Digital Champions is an exciting new programme from Age UK, Redbridge, Barking and Havering. It aims to provide local older people with the technology, skills and confidence, to be able to use devices (such as tablets, smart phones and computers), to browse the internet and get the most from digital services.

Find out more below about our tablet loan scheme, training, and opportunities to get involved as a volunteer.

Tablet Loan Scheme

Borrow technology to explore the internet! Are you interested in exploring what the internet has to offer, but don’t have the technology to do so?

This is a completely FREE service so you can explore whether using the internet is right for you. We’ve also got dedicated Digital Champions on hand to support you to make the most out of the internet on your borrowed device. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to brush up your skills, our Digital Champions are here to help!

You can find out more by contacting Vivienne on vivienne.greengrass@ageukrbh.org.uk or 07946 032332.

Training Opportunities

Our Digital Champions will be providing both one-to-one, and group training sessions, to make sure you get the most from your devices and the internet. In the near future we will be posting details of how to enlist, or refer someone.

Volunteering

Become a volunteer Digital Champion and improve older people’s digital skills!

We need your help! While many older people have embraced digital technology, there are many others who are less confident and are at risk of missing out. A volunteer Digital Champion is someone who is trained and supported to inspire others to get online and can spend some time showing them how.

You don’t need to be a technology whizz! Instead, all you need is:

• A love for meeting new people.
• A willingness to help others.
• Enjoying being online.
• Confidence with basic technology use, for example tablets and smartphones.
