Age UK Sunderland and Stagecoach Grand Day Out

A huge thank you to our brilliant partners at Stagecoach North East for treating some of our clients to an unforgettable trip to the beautifully restored Hylton Castle! From stepping onto a brand-new electric bus to enjoying afternoon tea with the Mayor, our older people were made to feel like royalty.

 

 

For many, this was their first visit back since childhood and the memories came flooding back. Laughter, stories, and even a bit of medieval dress-up (sorry, Michael the bus driver!) made this a truly special day.

 

 

These days out are about so much more than sightseeing. They help fight loneliness, spark friendship, and remind our older community that they are seen, valued, and celebrated.

 

 

“It’s been really interesting. I’ve never been to Hylton Castle before and the whole day has been lovely,” said Allison, 76.
