Essence Christmas Party 2025🎄

🎄✨On Thursday 13th of December, we held our annual Age UK Sunderland Essence Christmas Party at The Grand Hotel in Sunderland — what a brilliant afternoon filled with fun, music and dancing!

A heartfelt thank you to The Worshipful Mayor of Sunderland, Councillor Ehthesham Haque, and the Mayoress, Councillor Lynda Scanlan, for joining us to show their support. The Essence Service is Sunderland’s dementia hub, supporting people with a mild to moderate diagnosis of dementia and their carers.

Tracy Collins, Chief Executive Officer at Age UK Sunderland, said:
“The Essence Christmas party is a wonderful opportunity each year for people with dementia and their carers to come together and have a fun time. Everyone enjoys a festive meal and entertainment which is often unachievable due to managing the condition, which is very challenging for individuals. The event provides a rare occasion to bring people together whilst raising awareness of the needs of people encountering the condition.”
