Planning for your Future Awareness Day 2026
Published on 14 July 2026 12:29 PM
We are delighted to confirm a free, additional information session in our Planning for your Future programme on Tuesday 22 September 2026.
This will be run in partnership with the Society of Later Lafe Advisors (SOLLA) and the Association of Lifetime Lawyers and will be an in-depth session to explain or demystify the financial and legal aspects of planning. Attendees at our regular sessions have said this is a critical area where they need further help with.
This should be particularly appealing to local people who arrange and pay for their own care, their carers (unpaid family members or friends) and care arrangers. During this programme we have met so many residents who have shared their personal stories about issues with care arrangements, care costs, not understanding how social care works or how they wished they had known how to plan earlier. Our programme is aimed at helping people to be more informed and make better decisions and plans for themselves or loved ones that are affordable.
The main presentation will focus on:
- the importance of taking independent advice
- different ways of paying for care
- savings and investments
- equity release
- annuities
- deferred payment agreements
- placing property/assets in trusts
- what to look for in a care contract
- Lasting Power of Attorney
- Deputyship
Alongside independent financial advisors and lawyers, local organisations providing support to carers, showcasing technology enabled care and equipment to help you stay independent, will also be there to help you access the support you need.
The event will take place at Leatherhead Leisure Centre in the Sports Hall from 1pm to 3pm. Refreshments will be provided.
