Happy Volunteers' Week! 1 - 7 June 2026
This week, we want to shout out the incredible people who make Age UK Surrey what it is - our volunteers!
From our warm and welcoming Clockhouse team in Milford, to our Check in and Chat telephone befrienders bringing a friendly voice to someone who needs it most. From our Go50 walk leaders getting people out into the beautiful Surrey countryside, to our retail shop volunteers, dementia support helpers, tech support team members, admin assistants, welfare advisers, drivers, and so many more.
This is an ideal time to acknowledge and say a big thank you to our wonderful Board of Trustees, who are all volunteers giving their time and expertise to champion Age UK Surrey’s mission and make a positive difference in our community.
Age UK Surrey currently has 385 active volunteers who support our charity's work, collectively contributing over 20,000 hours of their time annually. Their commitment enables us to reach and support more older people across Surrey.
We have some very exciting news to share! Two of our wonderful Clockhouse volunteers have tied the knot, and we are delighted for them.
A special shout-out to Fred, who is in his 90s and has dedicated many years to volunteering as a Befriender. Thank you, Fred, for your incredible commitment!
We are delighted that four of our Haslemere retail volunteers were recognised with the Haslemere Volunteer Award at the Haslemere Museum in March. Well done to all involved!
Every single one of you gives your time, your energy, and your heart - and every single hour you give changes lives. Thank you
Would you like to volunteer? We have roles to suit all interests and availability - from befriending and admin, to retail, events, walking groups, and more. Even a couple of hours a week can change someone's life.
