Keith - Meet and Greet Volunteer
Meet and Greet Volunteers are the first point of contact at our Hub at Chingford Mount and deal with all sorts of enquiries from people who walk through the door.
How long have you been volunteering with Age UK Waltham Forest?
I’ve been a volunteer since November 2022.
What is your volunteer role and what does it involve?
My main role is to meet and greet people who come into our Hub. Welcoming anyone who rings our bell – this could be service users, enquiries or deliveries. I quite enjoy the fact you never know what is coming next.
Why did you decide to get involved and volunteer with us?
I gave up my business 4 years ago to care for my wife who sadly passed away last year. I spent months like a lost soul unless I came across an Instagram post for Age UK Waltham Forest.
What do you like best about volunteering with us?
It gives me the opportunity to help and talk to people, as well as learn new skills and challenge. For example I never thought I’d end up being a Quizmaster which I often do now for our monthly Quizzes that take place at the Hub.
