Age UK Brighton and Hove thanks its team of volunteers during Volunteers’ Week
As part of Volunteer’s Week (1 – 7 June), Age UK Brighton & Hove held a lunch at its office in Prestonville Road today, to thank its team of volunteers for their help over the last year.
Age UK Brighton & Hove has approximately 100 volunteers, who carry out a range of roles for the charity including advocacy, dementia engagement, fundraising and administration. New volunteers are always welcome and the charity matches people to posts based on their interests, skills and experience.
Rachel Cashman, Chief Executive of Age UK Brighton & Hove said “We were delighted to hold this lunch for our volunteers to formally thank them for the work they do for Age UK Brighton & Hove. They are a vital part of our team and we really appreciate the time and effort they put in to helping older people make the most of later life. We’re doing this as part of Volunteers’ week, but we’re grateful to them every week of the year!”
All volunteers at Age UK Brighton & Hove are given training relevant to their role, on-going support and their expenses are paid. As well as helping others, volunteering often helps those doing it to develop transferrable skills and can sometimes lead to other employment opportunities. Age UK Brighton & Hove is currently looking for new volunteers, particularly to help with admin, on reception and in its crisis service.
