Community Support Worker

18.5 Hours
Salary £10,206.82 pa
based at Durban House, Bognor Regis

Age UK West Sussex delivers services and activities to support vulnerable people, their carer’s and families. Our aim is to promote well-being and make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.

We work with West Sussex County Council Prevention Assessment Team to support the wellbeing of adults and older people.

This role will provide access to practical support to vulnerable people where a specific need exists. The purpose is to engage directly with clients to provide one-off, time limited practical support to access sources of support available within the local area. The successful applicant will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, delivering a range of expertise, including health and social care to enable people to make any changes in their lives or make informed choices necessary to resolve their issues.

You will need to have a full driving licence and use of a car.

Age UK offers annual leave entitlement of 28 days per annum, plus bank holidays (pro rata for part time).

Information and Advice Telephone/Outreach Advisor.

21 hours per week 
Salary £11,880.96
based in Littlehampton

We deliver an information and advice service to people aged 50 and over, as well as their families and carers, on a wide range of issues. We operate an Advice Quality Standard (AQS) telephone advice line, face to face advice at outreach locations throughout West Sussex and home visits for less mobile clients.  

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team with proven communication and people skills, knowledge and experience of delivering advice. You will be required to provide county wide information and advice for older people by answering enquiries from the public over the telephone, in person and via email or other written means. As part of this role you will be required to travel covering outreach in Bognor Regis and Chichester.

The Information and Advice service provides advice on a broad range of topics including, money advice, benefits, housing, consumer, care, community support, funding care and leisure activities.

This post requires a full driving licence and use of a car.

Crisis Career(s) - Based in Brighton and Hove

Hourly rates start from £9.75 per hour (week day) and increase to £11.72 for Sunday/Bank Holidays.

Age UK Brighton & Hove delivers a range of services and activities to meet vulnerable people’s needs. The service provides short term care (up to 14 days) following hospital discharge, onset of a sudden illness or when informal care breaks down.

You will be joining a well established and highly regarded team of Crisis Carers who will make you welcome and support you to provide a positive and fulfilling experience at work.  We offer flexible hours to suit you with options covering Monday – Sunday.

Age UK Crisis Service delivers care within client’s home providing short term personalised care to people in later life returning home from hospital or in a Crisis. The service operates throughout the year and full support and training will be provided.  Crisis Carers deliver low level personal care and support clients to access other appropriate services as required. Crisis Carers have a flexible approach, are able to use their initiative when working alone and communicate well within a team.  Your role will be to enable clients to regain a level of independence to allow them to live as a full a life as possible.

Home Helpers Required


We are looking for SELF EMPLOYED HOME HELPS in the BRIGHTON & HOVE and WEST SUSSEX areas to help with household tasks, cleaning, shopping and provide social support to assist older people to remain independent in their own homes. Working between Monday and Friday, the hours are flexible and according to your availability.  Rates of pay are between £10 and £14 per hour depending on the area.

Car drivers preferred but not essential.

All applicants will have a DBS check through Age UK West Sussex and must have their own Liability Insurance.  Training and ongoing support will be provided.

Gardeners/Handypeople Required

We are looking for SELF EMPLOYED GARDENERS / HANDYPEOPLE in BRIGHTON & HOVE and WEST SUSSEX to help with gardening and odd jobs to assist older people to remain independent in their own homes. Working between Monday and Friday, the hours are flexible and according to your availability.  Rate of pay is £15 per hour for both gardeners and handypeople.

You will need to have all your own tools and equipment.  You must have Liability Insurance.

All applicants will have a DBS check through Age UK West Sussex.  Ongoing support will be provided.
