Resilience and Wellbeing Project

21 December 2017

Are you interested in our Resilience and Wellbeing Project for people aged 50+?

Age UK Brighton & Hove and Mind in Brighton and Hove are seeking 8 -10 participants to join with our group project exploring and developing ways in which we can respond healthily to the inevitable changes of later life. This project is part of a wider national programme running with Age UK and Mind from 2016 – 2018.

What is involved?
Participants will attend weekly 2-hour small group sessions for 8 weeks. In these sessions we will discuss and practice skills and approaches which can help us face challenges more easily and help improve our general sense of wellbeing. Our facilitators will bring ideas and information and we will be encouraging our participants to contribute their ideas and practices too.

What could I get?
We believe participants will find the programme both enjoyable and practically useful, providing tools and ideas with which to approach later life’s ups and downs.  We hope it may also create possibilities for more social connections, not just within the group, but by creating new ways to connect with others in the wider community.

Age UK and Mind want to learn more about how best to support older people to develop resilience and improve their wellbeing.

What would I need to do?

You would need to:
• Be willing to attend all 8 sessions in a programme– see below for programme dates
• be willing to listen to others and share your views
• be willing to reflect on your experience of the programme
• be willing to have a go at doing something different
• be interviewed at the end to give your feedback on the programme

If you are interested the next step is for us to talk to you and explain more about what the programme involves and to help you decide whether it will be appropriate for you.

New Year programme:
Fridays February 2nd – 23rd March 2018 inclusive, 1:30pm – 3:30pm.
