Age UK County Durham Trustees (22.05 & 22.05c)

If you are looking to volunteer as a trustee for an inspirational organisation that puts its people at the heart of all it does, Age UK County Durham is the organisation for you!
We are looking to recruit the role of Chair (22.05c) and other trustees (22.05) to join our Board. 
  • We are the ‘go to’ organisation for people aged 50+ across County Durham
  • We are an independent local charity and have been working with communities throughout the County for over 45 years
  • We help and support people aged 50+
  • We have a dedicated team of staff and volunteers helping us to deliver our services and activities
Volunteers play an important and integral role within our organisation. Age UK County Durham Board members are responsible for ensuring the organisation is governed correctly and that we remain compliant with Charity Law and other internal/external guidance whilst ensuring we maintain our mission to ‘promote the wellbeing of all older people and to make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.’
Applicants must be able to demonstrate care and an understanding of the needs of those aged 50+ living in County Durham. 
The Chair needs to have experience at a managerial or leadership level and knowledge of the voluntary sector.
We would welcome trustee applicants with relevant experience and knowledge of strategic working in:
  • Retail
  • Marketing (including digital)
  • Business development
  • Charity governance
  • Health and safety
  • Human resources
  • Fundraising
If you have knowledge and experience in these areas, we would like to hear from you. 
The post of a trustee is unpaid and you must be able to:
  • Attend a minimum of four board meetings per annum
  • Offer additional time and support as and when required
  • Keep yourself briefed on issues relevant to the organisation and think strategically
